MicroFiction: Six Word Stories, aka the Hemingway Challenge

The Gibson Brothers with the Lonesome River Band

WDVX’s World Class Bluegrass series lives up to its name with this double shot of old-fashioned classic ’grass featuring the Gibson Brothers and the Lonesome River Band, both of them multiple award winners.
SATURDAY, MARCH 12:
Knoxville Children’s Theatre: To Kill a Mockingbird
Knoxville Children’s Theatre • 1 p.m. and 5 p.m. • $12
It’s the last weekend for KTC’s adaptation of the beloved Southern coming-of-age tale—an appropriately timed tribute to Harper Lee, who died last month.
Clarence Brown Theatre: A Lesson Before Dying
Carousel Theatre • 7:30 p.m. • $22-$42
It’s also the last weekend for CBT’s adaptation of Ernest J. Gaines’ novel about a Louisiana man condemned to die for a crime he didn’t commit.

The English heavy-hitters describe themselves as caveman battle doom. With the equally heavy Seattle trio Serial Hawk.
SUNDAY, MARCH 13:
Pentagram
The Concourse • 8 p.m. • $18/$20 at the door • 18 and up
The legendary progenitors of what’s called doom metal—slow and low, like Black Sabbath on cough syrup—makes its first-ever Knoxville appearance, even though guitarist Victor Griffin is a Morristown native and has lived in Knoxville for the last 15 years. With King Giant, Summoner’s Circle, and Wampus Cat.
