We Didn’t Crash the Website! (Update)

UPDATE—Nov. 14, 2015: We survived the night and didn’t crash the website! But it’s now a sunny Saturday, so we’re logging off and heading out. Have a good weekend.

We’re Going Down (For Maintenance)—Nov. 13, 2015: Fear not, for we will be back. But for a spell this weekend, this website will go offline as we perform some much-needed maintenance and start making improvements aimed at providing a better user experience for you, the loyal reader.

Knoxmercury.com will be inaccessible starting at 4 p.m. on Friday, Nov. 13, 2015, and work will likely continue into the wee hours of Saturday morning.

If all goes well we should be back up and running before you drag yourself out of bed Saturday, but there is a chance we could experience some extended delays or development times. At the latest, we’ll be online again by Monday morning, Nov. 16. Promise.

In the meantime, go pick up a print copy of the Mercury from one of our 300-or-so news stands around the greater Knoxville area. Our distribution map can be found online here.

A lot of the work that needs to be done is behind-the-scenes sort of stuff, so you probably will not notice many—if any—changes following this first round up updates. But soon you will find a number of new features cropping up around the site (think expanded section pages, a blog, more photo galleries, and other cool stuff). Once we’ve made some more progress toward that end we’ll be sure to write another one of these meta posts and let you know what’s what and where to find things. (Don’t worry, your favorite stories, columnists, and other features aren’t going anywhere.)

If you have questions in the interim, send ’em on to info@knoxmercury.com and we’ll get back with you as soon as we can. Thanks for sticking with us, and thanks for reading!

Former Mercury staff reporter Clay Duda has covered gangs in New York, housing busts in Atlanta, and wildfires in Northern California. And lots of stuff about Knoxville.
